BLS: Partner of the 2012 Italian Energy Summit
South Tyrol is perceived as a serious partner in Italy for the green energy sector. The most recent appearance of Business Location Südtirol (BLS), South Tyrol’s business location agency, at the 12th Italian Energy Summit in Milan clearly evinces this fact. At the summit, BLS explained why South Tyrol is one of Italy’s green flagship regions and why the province is ideally situated for companies in the sector, pointing to the importance of the new technology park in Bolzano for the industry’s development. BLS was a partner for the event alongside such renowned companies as Edison, Deloitte and Ernst & Young.
Renewable energy and energy efficiency are the major themes of Milan’s Italian Energy Summit, which is traditionally a meeting place for the green energy sector. The financial newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore organises the forum on an annual basis. This year, there were 200 key industry representatives at the conference: this proved to be an ideal opportunity for BLS to present South Tyrol as a business location, outline the advantages offered by the region, and highlight South Tyrol’s expertise in the sectors of energy efficiency and renewable energy.
“South Tyrol is really a model region within Italy when it comes to green energy. This fact is already a given within the sector,” says Minister of Economic Affairs Thomas Widmann. “South Tyrol is now considered to be a serious partner with extensive know-how in this sector - in fact, the province being invited to this event is in and of itself indicative of this.”
The speakers of the summit included representatives from highly distinguished institutions and corporations as well as the green sector’s most influential organisations. Michele Gallo, a BLS consultant, spoke about the technological innovation that is necessary for the development of renewable energy, and introduced the Bolzano Technology Park project from the perspective of South Tyrol’s strategic development as a business location. He also participated in a round-table discussion about the optimisation of consumption and investment in the field of energy efficiency.
"Participation in an event that holds such great importance within the energy industry is a unique opportunity to directly address the sector’s businesses,” said BLS Director Ulrich Stofner. “In this atmosphere, we can present South Tyrol as a business location with expertise in green energy, and thus attract the attention of the many companies in the sector that are looking for an ideal location for their businesses.”
